This weekend in food
Although we actually did do things other than eat this past weekend, you wouldn't know it by the pictures I took! It was another gorgeous weekend here, filled with friends, summer fun, and yes, lots of great food.
Inspired by the fava beans in our CSA box: whole wheat pasta with sundried tomatoes, fresh basil, kalamata olives, a little parmesan, and nutritional yeast. Eaten al fresco, of course!
What I'm drinking these days: Casal Garcia Rosé Vino Verde.
Two girls on a mission.
Mission accomplished!
Umbrellas up at a building near Jamison Square.
At Bella Organic in anticipation of berries!
A decent haul.
My girl loves a good tree!
After being a good sport in the heat, she hitched a ride back to the car!
Beating the heat with homemade Recharge popsicles.
Look ma, no hands!
A quick, yummy dinner: leftover brown rice, chopped grilled veggies, black beans, diced tomatoes, and cilantro, tossed together and topped with nutritional yeast.

The start of summer
Weaving daisies into Daddy's hat at the farmer's market.
It's been a loong time since I last posted. I didn't realize the connection to the weather, but as soon as the sun came out again, so did my camera.
All these shots are from this weekend. The sun finally emerged from its hiatus, and Portland was glorious. There was much playground time, as well as an expedition to “Antarctica” (inspired by the Magic Treehouse books, which we are deep into), a trip to the farmer's market, the requisite lemonade stand, and some excellent grilling.
And as a special bonus, Little Bit decided that after 5 years, she was finally willing to sit on Anna's lap!
Today the sun is pretending none of this ever happened, but I have my photos as proof.
Riding the magic lizard to Antarctica (duh)!
Going down the slide backwards.
Random hippie signs of summer!
And then they graced Anna with their daisy chain.
They made a killing!
Street corner bubbles.
Dinner.
